History

Gothic Golf began at the turn of the millennium, as a high school student's dream, and in a final effort to pass his studies, Visual Communication and Design assignment. The concept was refined and realized throughout the duration of 2001, and soon after, took off with overwhelming interest from the public, and limited media coverage.
Originally known only as "Hardcore" - the alternative sporting centre, and boasting an ankh-inspired golf tee for a logo, this dark themed club started as a public course with a members only coven/bar. It became apparent over time, that there were two groups of people visiting the club: Avid golfers, and Gothic winos. These two groups were not mingling.

Aptly named Mini-Goff, the introduction of the mini-golf course was a huge success, catering for the younger modern gothic, and children of golfers alike. Suddenly different cultures, and sub-cultures, could be seen playing along side one another. As a result, the club mission statement was produced.

On the 9th of May, 2002, the website was launched under the widely adopted slang name "Gothic Golf", and accordingly, the entire club underwent a change of name, and facilities. This was the first time the spike-ball logo was unveiled to the world.

Now totally exclusive to the Goth community, GG has carved itself an empire, and a bloody reputation, made famous by our drunken tournaments. The biggest of these is our annual event, attracting large turn-outs every year. While always looking to expand, Gothic Golf has reached a point of success, and is showing no sign of going away, despite a few medical mishaps during play. We would like to thank all of our members for this great success.
