Answers:

· Why Golf?
On the surface, Goth and sport might not go hand in hand, but think about it, is there a more depressing sport than golf? Either that or maybe we just like alliteration. Seriously though, golf is a non-contact sport (in theory, anyhow) which means there won’t be any makeup smudges. It can be played at night with little difficulty, and doesn’t involve running around. The following was posted in a somewhat mocking forum-thread, on an irrelevant band site:

"What’s with all the black? Why are you so down?"
"...I play golf."
"Oh man that sucks, I'm sorry."

And thus we have Gothic Golf.

· Why Goth?
Our concept originally identified Goths as a primary audience since they were seen as a sub-culture that was largely shunned by mainstream society. Some may argue that this is purely by their choice; however it seemed only right that we offered an alternative choice for those individuals who agreed with our mission to reduce the gap in societies (so it’s an alternative to an alternative, really.) For more information on Goths in general, have a look at Goth.net

· Why do you choose to play at night-time?
Habitually, Goths aren’t a fan of the light (in a similar way that Trip isn’t a fan of the ladies.) By conducting golf games at night-time, we reduce the amount of public rubbernecking and create a comfortable environment for Goths to express their talent. This is allowed by the use of select artificial-lighting of the course(s), and the implementation of glow-in-the-dark golf balls.

· How did this get started?
Gothic Golf began at the turn of the millennium as a high school student's dream, in the form of a Visual Communication and Design assignment. The concept was refined and realized throughout the duration of 2001, and soon after, it took off with overwhelming interest from the public, and limited media coverage. The Gothic Golf concept was created in 2001, and the website was launched in 2002. For more information, please view the History of Gothic Golf

· I've looked all over the site, why can't I find your address anywhere?
There is a fine line between free publicity and staying exclusive. While the internet is an ideal place to create awareness of the needs of the modern day Goth, publicly identifying ourselves would only serve to attract ridicule and intolerance from the general public. There’s no shortage of interest however - perhaps you know someone who knows someone.

· Is there a dress code?
Yes there is an undisclosed dress code, and management reserves the right to discretion. Patrons may be ejected based on violations of this code. Idealy, you need to fit the 'Goth scene'.

· I've got a friend who wants to come along, but it's not Goth. Can it come?
As a general rule, no. More specifically however, we do allow non-Goth spectators to our annual tournaments.

· Can I bring my 'pets' along?
Only if we can sacrifice it to a pagan god... No, we do not permit animals on our grounds. It would however be perfectly acceptable if you brought your significant other on a leash.

· Do you really have ritual killings?
As the term “Goth” is very broad, we have to cater far a large variety of people. Some of which may object to ritual slaughter of animals. We are equally bound by the relevant laws and regulations. Therefore “ritual killings” are limited to the destruction of artificial creatures (made from all new materials – no animals parts whatsoever) which have become a highlight of our concept.

· Golf and alcohol – Isn’t that a little dangerous?
Apparently yes - we’re certainly no stranger to the local Ambulance depot. Safety is an issue which we are always working to preserve. While Gothic Golf identifies the attractiveness of drunken golfing, responsible service of alcohol is encouraged.

· As Goths are totally metal, is there a risk of a lightning strike?
Golf is known for its risk to players during a lightening storm. Unfortunately Goths suffer the same vulnerability. If this is a concern to you, we recommend you undertake further research.

· Do your players have corporate sponsorship?
No. At time of writing, Gothic Golf is not formally recognised in any “professional” league and has therefore drawn no corporate sponsorship. Several websites have sponsored us over the years, however. Most notable of these is VIDGuide.com

· Why all this fuss about Miss Marky?
Put simply, Miss Marky is our star player. After consecutively winning several of our tournaments, he became our official poster-girl.

· Does Gothic Golf have any merchandise available?
We are currently negotiating the commission of merchandise from an independent source. Since our business hours are generally at odds with everyone else, communication is slow and therefore we do not anticipate the change to take place any time soon.

· Is that a golf club in your pocket, or are you really that miserable to see me?
Meh.
